"I offer a no obligation free quote based on being provided with a detailed brief of the work to be undertaken, and if appropriate, a sample of the work."
Robyn Gillies

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?
The nature and extent of your writing, editing or design and layout project will determine how much it will cost.

I tend to charge for a project rather than an hourly rate but there are times when an hourly rate may be more appropriate – hourly rates vary according to the type of work to be undertaken.

I offer a no obligation free quote based on being provided with a detailed brief of the work to be undertaken, and if appropriate, a sample of the work. For example, please let me know:

what is to be done—such as the level of editing required, whether copy for captions/illustrations/blurb is required etc
if guidelines for design and typesetting are part of the project—style guide, preferred spelling, referencing, headings etc
all items to be edited—such as manuscript or CD, photographs, illustrations, graphs, author’s comments etc
timelines/stages for when the work is to be completed; and in what format.
The Institute of Professional Editors Limited (IPEd) has useful information on how to brief an editor and the Canberra Society of Editors also has an itemised list of editorial services, the commissioning checklist, that may be helpful.
